What do you guys think?

Again, thanks so much for reading it!!! ><

bump :[ pleaseplease.

I’m not familiar with a lot of the universities you listed, but for CMU, Vanderbilt and Wellesley, I’m pretty sure you’ll need to raise your stats. The 560 on your CR doesn’t look good. You should try to get a 700+ on it, and optimally get at least a 750 on all three sections, just to be on some solid ground. Extracurrics are looking fine, imho, but I’m no judge of those things.

safe bet for Boston university, case western university, and university of toronto. Those three schools are great matches. vandy, rochester, illinois, lehigh and carnegie are reach schools meaning your chances are not that great. plus as an asian, you’re expected to score higher so critical reading needs to go up. there are hundreds of people just like you with better stats. you need to work on a higher gpa but it’s definitely not all about stats. if you can show improvement throughout high school that indicates a sense of maturity to admission officers. penn state seems like another great match too

thank you very muchh guys!!! and yeah my gpa is really shaky sigh. I’m retaking the SAT’s for math and CR to bump them up alot in Oct, so im crossing my fingers  thank youuu

bumppp this shizzz  help pleaseplease?

cmu/vandy/Wells/mcgill are very unlikely due to your GPA and SAT reading score (very unlikely reach)

Penn state/BU/Rutgers and the likes are pretty much guaranteed entry given your credentials (safety).

Everything else is a good match.

if your primary interest is in music, schools will look for musical ability (your audition tapes) rather than your grades.

hey, thank you so much! yeah im gonna try to bump my reading and math SAT scores to at least give me a slim chance haha? which one of those 4 do you think i can put up for ED?
haha, music is a strong interest for me, but it wont be a primary interest  i’m going for engineering as a major, and music as a minor. thanks for the advice!

bumpbumpbump ? :)

Pleasee note that when needing aid, the schools need to also be financial safeties. Getting in, and getting in with aid, are vey different things. Many schools will only offer aid to their top candidates.

ohhhhh that’s really true, thanks for the input!

For Rutgers and Penn State you should be in no problem and for Boston U I think with a slight GPA raise you’ll be fine as well. Your GPA is just a little weak for the others but the rest of your resume looks great! (aside from the CR SAT score)

Have you looked at Virginia Tech at all? I think that would be a great match.

Have you looked into Temple? They have good engineering and an amazing music program. I know that they also give out a half scholarship if you get into their honors program. I know people with similar stats than yours who have been accepted into Honors

ahhh thank you very much! no i have not looked at Vtech, but I’ll take your advice and look it up!

ahaha yes i’ve heard of that program, I actually live 20 minutes away from temple! the school is not for me, because of its close proximity to home, but i’ll take note of the advice, thank you!!!

bumpppppppp

Looking at your stats I felt like I was looking in a mirror… 3.3 GPA, 30 ACT, and I’m Asian as well. Then I saw your ECs and once again was asking myself what exactly I’ve been doing the last few years, aside from playing video games of course :P.

HAHA oh wow. looks like we’re on the same page? get some EC’s then! what schools are you looking at?

U of T, really? Well, yeah, it’s a lot cheaper than pretty much all the American universities, but I live in Toronto and have friends who went to U of T… and know only a few who are really happy with the school.
(Hell, I’m living in Toronto and I’m not even going to apply there).

oh wow…really? hmm since you live in canada, do you know anything about mcgill? haha.

bumping ? haha…
