@kkedia - CU rejects relatively few applicants. Which school at CU did you apply to?

I assume you’re full pay (no financial aid needed) because these schools are going to give you little, if any, financial assistance.

@BldrDad‌ I am applying to CU Boulder College of engineering and Applied sciences. Yes CU Boulder’s acceptance rate is very high. Actually, this is not my first choice I have taken it as a safety school. Why would they not give financial aid ?

Very few public universities in the USA offer need-based financial aid to international students. I suspect you will get no aid from any of the colleges you listed. You would need to look for other ways to cover the cost- merit scholarships, loans, etc.

Some private colleges (such as Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and MIT) meet full financial need for international students, but they are very selective. I suggest you research financial aid options for every school you are considering applying to - you may find some (other than MIT) than offer mechanical engineering and have generous aid for internationals, but they will be few.

If you have a very strong application, you might have a chance at MIT, but it will be a long shot.

@BldrDad‌ Thank you for the advice. I will look forward to it. By the way what are my chances in other colleges I have mentioned?

@kkedia - I have no idea what your chances are as you’re an international - did you indicate you needed financial aid? Many colleges factor this into the decision.

CU-Boulder: Safety
UWI: Match
Penn State: Low match/Match
Ohio State: Low match
UMinn-TC: Match

@BldrDad‌ On the application there is no option for financial aid. So It means they don’t know whether I need financial aid or not. I have not submitted the financial documents will do after admission.

@Catria‌ Thank You
Can you tell me diff between Low Match , Match and High Match?
Actually my counselor categorize them as safe, reach and dream.

The height of a match refers to the odds of rejection. A reach have lesser odds of acceptance than a high match, a high match has lesser odds of acceptance than a match, and same goes for match vs. low match.

@Catria‌ Thank You now I got it.
