hi! rising michigan senior here, applying to columbia and barnard RD with an intended major in theatre

stats:
4.02 cumulative GPA
1550 SAT (790 EBRW 760 Math)
5 on APUSH sophomore year, took lang, bio, micro, gov, and french this year (taking 4 more APs in senior year)
French and Lit SAT2 this month (not expecting much)
1480 PSAT (subscore 223)

extracurriculars:
-8 month paid apprenticeship with local theatre company in junior year
-2 theatre internships this summer in nyc
-6 month social justice education program
-student ambassador executive for a michigan government group for student safety as well as state-wide leadership conferences and leadership camp participant through same organization
-French club president junior year, member for all of high school
-in-school social justice immersion program for all of high school
-senator and homecoming chairperson in student council for all of high school
-50+ volunteer hours for local community-building nonprofit

awards/honors:
-national merit semifinalist (expected)
-bronze medal on national french contest
-selected to receive a certificate of honor from the national french alliance
-french honor society since sophomore year
-academic honor roll since sophomore year

Your stats are great, and your theater ECs are good. There’s a heavy emphasis on French stuff though (half your recs, half your ECs, half your awards), so make sure to devote one essay explaining your French roots or why you’re so invested in it. Columbia’s really going to depend on how high-profile those internships where, and for Barnard, the strength of your essays.
