You have incredible scores and an awesome GPA (1st or second makes no difference whatsoever).

For Columbia, I’m gonna say you’re a mid-high match.

For MIT, however, my ideas are different. MIT values ECs to a pretty incredible degree. They even mention publicly that they only glance over your scores for a general idea. Your ECs, to me, at the very least, do not show any passion in a particular area (e.g. engineering). For MIT, I’d say you’re a mid reach.

I think you have a great shot at both. However, I feel that your ECs are verys strong but a little lackluster. If you want to go to MIT, you have to have science research experience or like an internship in your field. In my school this year, 3 people got into MIT so far, and they had academic stats like yours. They also placed in national science competitions. Overall, I think you have a better shot at Columbia than MIT. Good luck!

That 790 in US History kills your application. I recommend taking a gap year, and repeating senior year somewhere else and apply again to colleges. And 2nd rank? That’s awful you should follow my advice. Also, a 2390 is barely above the average for MIT. Get those test scores up.

Best case scenario you retake the USH and time travel back to freshman year to take more honors courses. Take the ACT to compensate for your subpar SAT score. Are you applying for financial aid guap?

As for Columbia I can offer my two cents. Both my cousins attend/attended (one majoring in BME at Fu) the other did something similar to a 7 year med program, graduated and is now in med school at Mt. Sinai. Yeah I have shoes that are impossible to fill. Anyways from there stats I can tell you that if you have fantastic, and I mean FANTASTIC essays you have a good chance. The cousin at Fu did not have a 4.0 UW, in fact his freshman year he got C’s. But after some aderall he finished with a 3.88 but his EC’s were unbeatable (plus he had the legacy of his sister the pre-med student). A chance back would be cool too.
