Will chance back :)

Edit: Oh, and I've been told my essay topic is fairly original. I wrote about the first time I found out Santa doesn't exist and how that shaped the way I think. Also had a 1.5 hour interview. The alum told me I was a perfect fit before I left, though I know interviews mean little.

self-bump. anyone?

not entirely sure, interviews really do mean nothing. You stack up really well, are you applying as African American or caucasian, will make a difference, not sure about columbia, no one from my hs went there within last couple years but always get ppl into duke, stanford, Yale on occasion, and many other top 20 schools and top 10 not a lot of top 5 but self taught instruments is impressive they eat that ***** up.

I checked off both races because I’m both.

Well AA could still play in your favor

I was going to say ur SAT score is too low for columbia. But after seeing that ur URM, you actually have a good chance at Columbia.
Your ECs look awesome. The only problem is ur SAT score, but your URM status will cover that.
Plus, u applied to Columbia ED (which can boost ur chance even more).
Overall your a great candidate.
Gud luck

good stats, with URM + legacy + ED you have a pretty good chance at Columbia, and probably definitely in at Cornell and other schools lower on your list, with Brown and UPenn I’m not so sure you’d get in.

chance me back : )

Thanks guys. ggcol: My SAT score is too low? I mean I was disappointed that I didn’t get a 2250 (there was actually a harsh writing curve. -1 MC gave me a 75/80), but I thought that 2200 was around the 50th percentile for Columbia?

no one else?

I don’t think Columbia is too bad. I think it’ll be a reasonable reach (30-40%). Your GPA is very good, most riogorous transcript is always a plus, really helpful hooks, a strong SAT, and ok ECs (kind of weak)… positive: interviews actually count a lot, so if it went as well as you said, I think that could help: Here are my chances:

-Columbia, ED: Reasonable Reach
-Brown: BIG BIG Reach (replace w/ Vanderbilt, UVirginia, Georgetown, UMichigan Ann Arbor, or UNC Chapel Hill?)
-UPenn: Reasonable Reach
-Cornell: Low Reach
-Wesleyan: Reasonable Reach
-Williams: BIG Reach (the best LAC in the country —> look above)
-Northwestern: Match
-Boston College: Safety-Match
-TCNJ: In
-Rutgers, New Brunswick: In

Hope this helps!! Plz Chance Back!! (2.0 version)

You’ve got a pretty good GPA and course load. Good SAT score overall, but could be higher for some of the ivies. Your EC’s look pretty good, especially with lots of participation all four years of high school. You seem perfect for Columbia!

-Columbia, ED- match
-Brown- pretty big reach
-UPenn- match
-Cornell- low reach
-Wesleyan- match
-Williams- not familiar
-Northwestern- possible reach
-Boston College- match
-TCNJ- not familiar
-Rutgers, New Brunswick- not familiar

Chance back?

-Columbia, ED- match
-Brown- mid reach
-UPenn- mid-low reach
-Cornell- low reach/match
-Wesleyan- match
-Williams- reach
-Northwestern- match
