I am a white male from an upper middle class family in the suburbs of Dallas-Fort Worth
I was in the gifted and talented variant of the AP and Honors classes below
Middle school: I was put in high school math and science when I was in 8th grade and took Honors Algebra 1 and Honors Biology on a high school level
Freshman year: Honors chemistry, Honors English, Theatre 1, Honors Geometry, AP Human Geography, On Level Spanish 1, Varsity Athletics
Sophomore year: AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP World History, Honors English 2, Honors Spanish 2, Honors Algebra 2, Varsity Athletics, Honors Computer Science
Junior year: AP US History, AP English 3, AP Physics C Mechanics, AP Psychology, AP Seminar, AP European History, Advanced Chemistry Research and design (Super Chem), Honors Pre Calculus
Senior year: I’m not a senior yet but I plan to take AP Government, AP Economics, AP and Physics C E&M, Advanced Chemistry Research and design, AP Calculus AB, AP Literature, AP Environmental Science, Floral Design, and either varsity athletics or senior release
Clubs at school: Chemistry club (Since sophomore), Math club (since junior), Model UN (since junior), co-founded Speaking and Writing club- an English tutoring club, and am in the process of founding a climate change awareness club
Out of School: I’ve been involved in a sport now and have been on the junior Olympic national team for 7 years now (nationally ranked, practiced 15-25 hours a week for 6 years). I don’t know if I will be continuing with this in college but I feel like mentioning this is important because it signifies a long term commitment to something. I also have lots of community service hours nearly 100.
Grades. My school doesn’t do unweighted GPA but my weighted GPA is around a 4.4. And unofficial unweighted is probably 3.4. My grades span from low B’s up to 100’s with most falling in the 87-93 range. With the exception of a 63 in my second semester of honors computer science in which I had a 93 my first semester.
Test scores: my sat and PSAT scores aren’t back yet but I’m expecting to get at least a 1520 on the SAT
I’m interested in Columbia University, New York University, University of Southern California, UC(LA,SB,Berkeley), and Stanford
I am interested in majoring in Architecture, Film, and product design.
I am concerned that after reading on these college websites that many colleges expect 4 years in foreign language classes. I ended up stopping Spanish after my sophomore year to take more AP classes out of frustration with the Spanish department at my school (Grew up speaking Spanish and English and was still unable to succeed in my Spanish classes due to non traditional teaching methods that were not conducive to a language class)
