Expecting my essays and recommendations to be great from both teachers and counselors.

you have as good a chance as every other qualified applicant…approximately 12-13%

So what you mean by that is that I’m qualified, so then it comes down to essays, recommendations and then a little bit of luck?

Wheres ur SAT I score?

I didn’t take it.

Your stats seem competitive. However, a previous poster was incorrect. With admissions at Columbia more selective now than even Princeton, you do not have a 12-13% chance. The admissions rate at Columbia for the Class of 2016 was under 8%. Presume that percentage to be your chance.

Really, as I have advised you elsewhere, competitive or not, if you do not get some safety schools on your list, you could have a problematic admissions season. NO ONE, no matter how qualified, is guaranteed admission to any elite school! You should dream, of course, but it is now time to start tempering your dreams with some realism!

@adityaparikh1 yup! Your stats are definitely good enough, it just comes down to essays, recs, and a bit of random chance :P

@swingtime, as stated in the other thread – i have already chosen three safety schools

U of MN-TC
U of MN-Duluth
U of WI-Madison

What do you think?

Good safety choices. I now think it is time to add some solid mid-tier matches, as I have suggested elsewhere. You have only top tier and safety schools. Where’s the middle ground?
