If you were in the US, I’d say that you were almost certainly going to be accepted. Still, I’ve heard that internationals get it tougher, even though that’s just some rumor I’ve heard. But looks like a solid application. Awesome job!

Even without the African hook, your stats look very promising, especially for Columbia and many of the other schools you’ve listed. For an International student seeking financial aid, Stanford may still be a high reach, but I’m confident that you’re one of the stronger applicants from Canada. You’re definitely on the right track, and wouldn’t be surprised is you made most of those schools you’ve listed. Good luck!

International is harder to get into (only around 4% of class is international)
Stats are amazing
Ivy leagues require SAT 2. Or at least some of the ones you have so take those and get +750.
You have a pretty awesome chance of getting in.
Good luck!

@schoolandstuff: actually, the class is much closer to 20% international (http://undergrad.admissions.columbia.edu/sites/default/files/class_of_2016_profile.pdf</a>). However, international admissions are need aware, which means students who can pay are much more likely to get in (which is ridiculous, but I guess that’s how CU is able to afford to give domestic students such generous FA). However, MIT and Yale (not sure about the rest) do offer need blind admissions for international students, so you might have a slightly better chance at those schools.
