Hi everyone!

Well first off, I'm from Uruguay (South America).
My country is very small and I dream of studying abroad, especially in the US.

I would love to study in Columbia, but I also consider other top universities like Princeton, Harvard and Yale.
Maybe I am being to ambitious, I know, but why not try? I am interested in studying something related to economics, business and international affairs.

Could you chance me?

I am a top student. I qualify on the top 8% of the students in my whole school (we are about 650 in high school).
I have won some academic awards, including for having the highest possible GPA in a 12 point scale. I was named Prefect for the last two years and I was part of the Student Council for about two years.

I am taking the IB, with Business Management as my HL subject along with English and Spanish. I of course take Maths and I also take Theatre and Biology. Considering I got a 6/7 in Biology last year, I would have a predicted of around 40/45 points for the IB.

I am taking the SATs. In fact, I took the SAT I last week and I am guessing I would get around a 1900 - 2000. But I studied all by myself.
I am also taking some subject tests which I haven't totally decided - Maths I or Maths II, US or World History and maybe Biology. If I'm lucky I guess I could get around a 650 - 750 in each subject.

When it comes to my extracurriculars, I have participated in many school plays and musicals. I took part of a leadership program that us Junior students did with the freshmen. I also took part of about five Model United Nations: I was one of the founding members of my school's MUN club and I was chair of an international conference in Buenos Aires.

I also did charitable works which include: working in a special home for women with disabilities for a year, working with children of a poor school to help them build a vegetable garden, participated of fundraising to build houses to the poor, went to a rural school for a weekend to paint the schools and help them be more eco-friendly and also organized a fashion show to raise funds for my generation's skiing trip.

Right now that is what comes to mind. I know I am not the brightest student but I am determined of what I want I have shown leadership qualities.

What do you think about my chances? I feel that the competition is very tough when it comes to these universities and my scores aren't the best.

Thank you very much!
