I already set up an interview

EC:

Math Team Participant (9-12)

At the end of the day, I know that Columbia is the right school for me. Given my stats, do you think I have a good chance, even though my testing is low?

The thing that you (and pretty much everyone else applying to ivies or equivalents) need to understand is that NO one (excluding recruits/large familial connections) is “likely” to be accepted. You have strong ECs and apparently good essays and recs, but many students have those and more. There is a possibility that you will be accepted, but with an acceptance rate at 6.9%, many extremely qualified applicants will be rejected. Its impossible to say that you won’t get in, but just keep your expectations minimal and plan for the worst. Good luck!

I hear what you are saying, and I understand that the acceptance rate is very low, but do I even stand a chance given that there are other students who have better stats? Is it impossible with my stats?

I believe it is possible with your stats, but it is not likely based on past results. However, if you write amazing essays and receive amazing letters of rec. and your interview goes well, I think you have a fighting chance. best of luck to you!

Agree with above. if you have time to retake the subject tests you’ll be in a stronger position if you can raise those scores. good luck.

I retook math level II and biom, and took math level I for the first time just last weekend. I feel like I did better on math level II and math level I was easy, but i still felt shaky on bio m even though I studied. Thanks!

if the subject tests don’t work out, consider the ACT - i cumulatively did the equivalent of approx. 400 points better between my first SAT and my most recent ACT, so you might see a great improvement. your SAT score is higher than what mine was, but taking the ACT allowed me to forget about both of them. plus, if you submit that, you don’t have to submit subject tests!!

Wouldn’t it be too late if I take the upcoming ACT?

I received my new subject test scores
biom 680
math 1 680
math 2 700

You have a decent chance because of being a questbridge finalist. I wouldn’t be suprised if you got accepted or rejected.

What do you mean by that? That’s vague

Probably high match/low reach. Like what others have said, it is almost impossible to chance the ivy leagues. However, given your stats, you have a good shot at getting accepted.

Thank you sparkl3!

I understand your love for Columbia…I love it too! I think that you need to get your scores up. Unfortunately, colleges are businesses, so they are trying to look as though they are the most appealing and are therefore really concerned with their average scores that they report. GPAs and standardized test scores are the first things admissions see when they open your file, so if you can get your scores up a tad that will ensure that they will get around to reading your amazing essay and recs! But anyways, the interview is good, it’ll show that you’re genuinely interested in the school. Good luck!! Chance me?
