Essay
I feel like my topic was generic (overcoming hardship) but it was heartfelt and revealed a lot about me.

Recommendations
I didn’t get to read them, but my teachers recs should have been good and counselor rec generic since I got a new counselor this year.
I also got an excellent rec from the doctor I volunteered with over the summer. Does it help if he’s a Columbia Alumnus?

Additional Information
-I’m applying for Financial Aid
-I’m considered an International Student because parents refuse to apply for permanent resident (long story). But Columbia puts Canadian citizens in the same pool as US students I think?
-Complicated family situation? Dad lives in China even though parents are still married with no legal separation status
-My PSAT score (228) qualifies for National Merit Semifinalist, but I don’t because of said lack of greencard. Of course, I mentioned this in the application

Extracurriculars/leadership is probably my weakest point, I know.
I feel like I've thoroughly abused my parenthesis keys in this post...
