Chance me for Comp. Sci!

*I know this post is identical to my Chance Me post in Business, but since I'm still trying to choose between Computer Science and Business, I decided to make a second post to separate the two. Hope no one minds.

Hoping to major in Computer Science

GPA:

2.71 unweighted

3.88 weighted

SAT: 1900 (CR: 600 Math: 700 Writing: 600) [planning on retaking]

100 hours volunteer work

debate club

FIRST FTC robotics team (went to worlds if that means anything)

recreational water polo

recreational swimming

Participated in NYU-Poly's CSAW

President of Odyssey of the Mind Club

Hispanic race (if that means anything)

Score of 4 on AP microeconomics

Debate Club

Went to a magnet school, ranked 6th in NJ, took college classes in business for one semester and computer engineering all 4 years of school.

My worst grades are in Engineering (I realize that I want to major in this field, but the course covered computer hardware and software, with emphasis on hardware. I want to do programming, which I excelled at, but unfortunately this didn't do my GPA too much good)

The list:
UIC
IIT
NYU
Fordham
UIUC
Drexel
Pace
Georgia Tech
Baruch
CMU
Stevens
University of Miami (in Florida, not Ohio)
FIU
American U
IIT
USC
UCLA
Purdue

Thanks in advance!

Most of the places you have listed are a low reach. However, some like CMU, UCLA may be a high reach. It’s those darn GPA’s that are gonna get you. Plus, your lack of Comp.Sci EC’s and classes could become an issue, as they might for me.
Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1505003-chances-stanford-will-return-favor.html

You have a legitimate chance at all those school. Just work on that GPA. Getting in touch with the admission departments also helps greatly. One more thing. As a computer science major, it is absolutely essential to know hardware. As a duel major in Finance and Enterprise Software Development I can tell you that knowing hardware is a must in any programming field. How else would you program nodes in a Database without knowing how a Database works? Right now I would focus on getting that GPA up and getting into those schools. But down the line when you have some free time head to your local community college and try to retake those hardware courses; just make sure you learn it properly. I understand the difficulty, but you are paying for college so you can have a secure job (so please make sure you are adequately prepared).
