Hi,
I’m currently a high school junior and would like to know my chances at getting admitted into a few top computer engineering colleges.

SAT Score: 2240, CR: 720, W: 720, M: 800
PSAT (new format): 1480
AP Tests: Human Geography: 5, Psychology: 5
AP Tests planned to take: Physics C (Mechanics & EM), Calc BC, Physics 1, Language and Comp, US History (Should get 4s and 5s on all)

Extra Curriculars:

Work Experience:
Teach private viola lessons

Awards:
Various math team and science olympiad medals
Student of the Month

Volunteering/Community Service:
FMSC
Local events

Cal Tech
UPenn
Stanford*

*Schools that are my top preference

Thanks, any input would be greatly appreciated.

I’d say you have a great chance! One piece of advice, however. NEVER EVER leave MIT off your list when considering top engineering schools! Thats like trying to take a shower, but realizing you forgot the soap. haha

Oh and maybe take UT Austin off your list. Overrated, unfortunately. And add Brown as well. Its a great engineering program that also offers some of the best humanities liberal arts studies there is! Want to be well rounded kid, thats the key!!

Also add:

  • Princeton (why not? you never know)
  • UCLA
  • Johns Hopkins (SUPER Sleeper! Will be Top 10 in the next 5-10 years!)
  • Northwestern (With your background its more of a “safe” school but packs a HELL of a punch reputation and connections wise!)
  • UMich

Thanks @HisTyNess. Appreciate your input.

@pkm2131 Caltech and Stanford might be relatively harder compared to the rest but you should have a decent shot for the rest of them. Remember to take Math II and a science subject test as those are required for Caltech, but you should have no problem with that.
