Chance me for computer engineering - low gpa high test scores

hello everyone,
I will be applying to cal poly ed in a few days, I was just wondering about my chances since i have a pretty low gpa.

Here are my stats:
9/10/11th csu gpa: 3.59

act: 33 (35 math, 34 english, 32 reading, 30 science) (retaking october for a higher superscore)
sat: 2190 superscore (760 math, 660 cr, 770 writing)
1420 cr + math

sat2: 790 math 2, 790 chem

ap: 5 AP chemistry, 5 AP calc bc

ap/honors taken by end of senior year: Pre-Calc H, Span 4 H, Physics H, AP calc bc, AP chemistry, AP spanish, AP stats, AP Econ, AP Gov

Thank you, will chance back!

what major are you applying for??

He said he’s applying for CPE, which is an interdisciplinary program (CS + EE).

Admitted students to the engineering college last year had an average GPA of 4.08 and average ACT of 31.

Class rigor is very good. I think you’ve got a shot. Good luck :)

Cal Poly doesn’t consider AP or SAT-II scores.

it will be slightly hard for you since your act score is only 2pts higher than their average act score, whereas your gpa is about 0.5 lower than their average gpa. but your rigor is very good, so i feel like it’s a 50-50 situation.

chance me back for industrial engineering! (3.92csu gpa, 35 act, 3 AP’s by end of junior yr)

@tigerrash

Will you be having 3 Aps by the end of your junior year or did you already complete junior year? Sorry lol

Either way your gpa is high and you have a very good ACT score… honestly think you are in. I say you have a 70/30 chance :)

hahah thank you kaplogy! i meant to say i finished junior year with 3 APs and now i’m a senior. i thought Cal poly doesn’t look at senior ap’s or class rigor?

@ tigerash

I’m pretty sure that they do look to see that you aren’t just taking all simple and easy classes senior year, so I do think they look at your senior year’ classes rigor. What they don’t see or care about during the application process is your grades senior year. You basically can’t send them your senior year grades and ask them to integrate it into their GPA calculation.

One more question tigerash, is it a total of 3 APS both junior and sophomore year?

I think you’ll make it :)

well technically, according to my school, I took 1 honors class sophomore year, and 2 AP’s and 1 honors class junior year, making that a total of 4 weighted classes.

@tigerrash what exactly is honors? Is it basically like Ap? my school offers them but I don’t know if they are considered the same type of honors as the ones you’re talking about… ?

You have a good shot :)
