Chance me for Cornell.... 1520 CR/Math

I really want to go to Cornell Arts and Science, but unfortunately my resume is kinda weak.

I came to U.S. three years ago and I didn't know what to do... so I totally bombed my GPA and activities.

I tried to make up by good SAT scores and I'm working on a essay right now.

I missed ED chance because I thought I was leaning toward Amherst ED... but my Calc teacher convinced me back to Cornell.

So do I have a chance?

I checked the Cornell thread and SATs do matter, but not as much. I think I saw students with 1900s get in and students with 2200s get rejected. I think as long as your SATs are “okay” it comes down to the essays=/

im applying and hoping that I get in too

I think you havea decent chance but your ECs are weak…imo

@HSShouldEnd

Thank you for the responds.

Yea, I’m kinda worried about my ECs… it seems Everybody points that out.

What do you mean by decent chance? any 10%? 20%?

Good luck on your application and I wish you luck. If everything goes well, we might meet at Cornell next year.

well your sats are really good for cornell, im guessing. it never hurts to try so take a shot. i have a close family friend who goes to cas and she said cas is the hardest to get into. =/

i think your classes are good…its jsut the ecs

anyways im similar to you
im also korean and an international student

can you chance me too? mines a few threads below yors

bump because I would like more than one person’s opinion.

^ ok first of all relax. These chance threads are never much use…

Second, you need to submit at least two Subject Test scores. Since you’re applying to Cornell, and since your GPA is not the greatest, make sure they’re 800 each.

Your SAT I score is good enough for Cornell and any other university. You definitely won’t be rejected (hopefully you won’t) because of your SAT.

Your GPA and EC’s are not really on Cornell’s level (as you well know). Especially your rank, 50 out of 410 will work against you. It might be made up if you got good scores on your numerous AP’s. If your AP scores were all 5’s, then it’s impressive.

The best you can do now is to explain your situation - settling in a new country is tough, - and write the best essays you can. The good thing is Cornell’s CAS can be swayed by a powerful essay, so that’s your only avenue of hope. If you manage to pull it off, then yes you have a good chance (I can’t give a number like 20% or 30% - nobody can)…if you bomb your essays as well, then forget it. Overall, I suggest you apply and really put your heart into your application.

Best of luck btw…
