Really want to apply ED to Cornell’s Applied Economics and Management program (AEM) which had a 7% acceptance rate in 2016

are you sure Cornell doesn’t look at SAT 2? I was under the impression they did, and you even have to send all test scores to them.

I called their admissions office and they told me that they will not consider SAT Subject Tests in their application process

You stand a better chance if your business and finance ECs have been steady interests throughout high school, and not just stuff you tacked on at the end; Cornell prefers to see a couple extracurriculars with steady interest instead of a bunch that each lasted only a little while. That being said, Dyson is extremely competitive. No one really stands a good chance of getting in, a lot of it is luck. I know that Cornell has been trying to up its URM numbers these past couple of years, so you might get lost in the shuffle. That being said, if this is really what you want to do, don’t let it discourage you. Cornell is a great place to be and you should really try to get in here.

@LViaLViaquez I couldn’t continue most of my activities at my previous school because I had left the country after 10th grade. I understand that Dyson admissions is a crapshoot which is why I’m applying ED (less of a crapshoot) and have a bunch of other universities I would be happy to attend (however Dyson is by far my number one choice ).What do you think is a ballpark estimate of the acceptance rate for internal transfers?

@aditya00 it’s also ridiculously difficult to get in as an internal transfer, so trying to get in via another major and then transferring is not a viable option.

You certainly have a chance, but Cornell denies thousands of excellent applicants every year. Don’t count on it
