You’re very well-rounded…. but I’d try to get your ACT to a 33 or 34. Other than that everything looks great, and being a minority will help you when applying to those selective schools
Cornell: B+ chance
Brown: B chance
Harvard: B+ chance

Chance Me: <a href=“Chance me???? Will Chance Back!!! :) - #3 by RugbySingh - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>Chance me???? Will Chance Back!!! :) - #3 by RugbySingh - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums;

You seem to have excellent credentials and grades, I’d say the only issue is that your test scores are lacking. Definitely try to improve that ACT score or maybe try the SAT. I’d say that if you can improve your scores you should have a decent chance at Cornell. Brown and Harvard are reaches for just about everyone, but I’d say you have a competitive chance (a small one, but still a chance).

Tbh, I don’t see anything stand out from your post. Are those the only colleges on your list?

Those are my top schools, but I’ll also be applying to West Point and SUNY Binghamton as my safety schools. Where would you recommend that I apply to with my credentials?

I’d say you have a decent shot, though with today’s acceptance rates, everyone does. Definitely apply to a lot of matches and safeties as well. Also, if possible, try to put white on your application. If your last name doesn’t give away that you’re Asian, put white.

Also, of the three schools, Cornell is probably your best shot.

I think Cornell is good match for you. I think your chances are good and will only get better if your ACT scores go up. As for Brown, I think that’s probably about the same, may not be quite as good of a match. Harvard would be a reach just because it’s Harvard and is always a gamble, but still go for it. Its not like you are under qualified. Good luck to you!!

What were you thinking of studying?

Don’t listen to people who say that you have nothing that stands out. I personally think you have a lot of really great ECs and your test scores and academic rigor are great! Just bump that ACT up to a 33 and I think you have a great shot!

Good luck! :)

No you are a shoo-in, add more reaches. :D

I’m planning on majoring in biology to eventually become a medical doctor. Do competitive majors decrease your odds of being accepted?

You are really well rounded, great grades and three sports.
You should get into Cornell or Brown ED. Harvard is crapshoot,

I’ll start with a disclaimer…I have not read your essays nor know anything about your teacher recs so I cannot give you a super accurate “Chance me” but I will try to go into detail.

  1. Where exactly in the top 5% do you lie? Closer to Rank 1 or near the top 5% cutoff. 98% average is extremely high so I would be surprised if you were not in the top 1%.
  2. Have you taken the SAT before? If not, maybe you should stick to ACT.
  3. Impressive SAT US history score! If you have time maybe retake SAT Math (this depends on what you plan on majoring in college…if you plan on going the math/science route or humanities route)
  4. Winning 1st place in the Science Olympiad is amazing!
  5. why only wrestling for two years? Do you plan on doing sports in college?
  6. Are you planning on applying to any of these colleges ED or EA?
    Cornell: likely (75%)
    Brown: somewhat likely (50-50)
Harvard: Maybe if you applied early (25%)
Need to know more about your research with nanomedicine
Competitive majors may decrease your odds of acceptance but I would do more research on that.
