ECs:

Re-started Math clinic: We help students in math whenever they need it.

Was a reading buddy volunteer at an organization, however, in my junior year(in the very beginning) I approached the couple running the organization and asked if I can start a math program(I wanted to make the same impact, but for math). They were happy that someone approached them with this idea and we got it started. We have about 20-25 kids in math, and I will most likely be able to get a LOC from a parent. Ever since, the organization has made both programs, reading and math, a year-long program(summers used to be off), and we even started a summer camp for the first time.

RetirementéNurisng Home: Volunteer, but I will be writing an essay on this.

Essay Topic: My experience with a particular resident at the retirement home, who was very angry, somehow, he liked me. There is a tragic portion to it, I took the friday before my ACTs off, and when I come there the next week, he isnt there, this goes on for a couple of weeks and I eventually find out he died. Also, when I went to his memorial, his chidren didnt even come. I went to take the rose, and take the candle, which is still with me today.

Other Honours:
I am a lifeguard(had to get like 5 certifications to get this)

I am Canadian and Indian

I will be applying as a Math major(unpopular i believe at Cornell)

I know I do not have the three foreign languages, but I emailed them and they said that its fine, but I will have to take courses there if I come.

Thank you for reading this long post, I will be applying to Cornell ED.

Please chance for
Cornell
Chicago
CMU
MIT
Brown
Duke
Berkeley
Harvard
Princeton
Stanford

Don’t know your chances, but I plan to be there when they raise #34 to the rafters of the TD Boston Garden! I just thought you’d want to know!

lol

bump

bump

I forgot to mention that my “GPA” is 3.96

Ivies–reach
Chicago–high match
CMU–?
MIT–reach
Duke–low reach
Berkeley–low reach

so many of these schools are really hard to get into, and although you have good stats, they could be better. I would work on getting that SAT up. Your ECs are good, but not extraordinary, though your story with the retirement home resident probably makes a great essay. good luck!!

@oreo3107 Cornell a reach??? And i can pay for Duke if that helps at all.

CMU means carnegie mellon

@oreo3107 I meant UChicago, you think i am a high match???

Cornell CAS is a reach. ACT is low, and no EC’s other than math clinic and some volunteering. With all the applicants that are extremely qualified the school receives, you’re not highly distinguished.

@Preppy2112 ACT is low??? middle 50 is 30-34

32 is only around 2100. That’s not all that impressive, especially when they get plenty of 34+ people with far more EC’s and shown interest.

@Preppy2112 i got a 33, with a 35 in math and 36 in science, my ECs show interest in math, my marks and contest awards also show interest in math. and my cornell essay is going to center around a math professor i want to learn from. Also math is an unpopular major

Ok

Low reach, I would say.

Pros: the essay sounds interesting, decent stats, tutoring program

Cons: lack of focused ecs and leadership roles. International and ORM.

If you convey yourself well through essays, the you have a pretty goood shot!

@FuzzyPeaches22 ty, can u explain wat u mean by lack of focused ECs?

bump

I think you have a good shot! best of luck
