Essay is coming along rather nicely! I have 3 or 4 written and in the edit process!

If you could chance me for Cornell that would be great!! I'm also probably applying Hopkins, Williams, Brown, URochester, SUNY Geneseo, College of William and Mary, UVM, and UChicago.

Thank you! I promise I'll chance you back if you want and I won't be offended if you say something negative! I just want some kind of perspective!

I’m a high school senior too, so I don’t have any advice to give. However, we have similar stats and I’m looking into Cornell as well, and Hopkins and Rochester. I know that these schools with be a reach for me but I’m hoping I can portray my passion through my essays. Cornell would be my DREAM school sighhhhh. I hope you the best of the best and with any luck, who knows we could be classmates of 2016!

If you do finish a research paper by the time you apply, make sure you send it in. Also, try to get a rec from the professor that you are working with.

You can only send in an abstract of your research to colleges.

It looks like you have decent chances. 1520/1600 SAT is very strong; also your GPA and course rigor look solid. Your ECs, while not all that unique, show you are dedicated (i.e. you did them for all four years and got leadership positions).

Definitely apply!

CPU- Nope. I know this for a fact because I sent in 76 pages of research (3 papers), and that’s only after calling up Cornell (they encouraged me to send in the whole papers). I know it says differently on the website (not sure why).

Thanks! I’m probably applying CAS which I know is rather difficult to get into! Any advice for applying?

I think you have a good chance. Make sure you write the best essays you can :). Best of luck.

GPA and SAT II scores are kind of weak. Definitely retake SAT IIs

I’ll say roughly 70%. Not bad considering default acceptance rate is 20%. Add 15-20% if you apply early.

Thanks for the input! I’m probably (80% sure) I’m going to apply Cornell ED! I just wanted to make sure the application fee was worth it given my low-ish GPA for Cornell!

id say you have a great chance! people are saying that your sat IIs are too low… but i got into cornell RD with 600 on lit, and i think like 680 on us, and 740 on math ii or something ridiculously bad like that
i would really recommend applying ED if you know that it is the school for you!
hopefully i see you at cornell the year after next :)

Thanks lulupeysmall! Any advice on applying since you managed to do it successfully?

What makes Cornell CAS the perfect fit for you? Make sure to highlight that in your supplement essay. In particular if there are ways that are important to you that Cornell differs from other similar-caliber schools, make sure you mention that. (and if there aren’t, why are you applying ED?)

Any other suggestions on applying or chances?

Anyone want to chance me? =)

I’d say you have a pretty good shot if you can show why you want to come to cornell specifically. Your GPA and SAT are fine. You should get in if you can demonstrate passion for the school.

lexieam:

Your grades and scores are fine. Based on this, you should be a strong applicant. Whether you are admitted will likely depend on the other portions of your application – grades, recommendations, match and luck.

FWIW – while I strongly recommend visiting Cornell, for your won sake, it should be noted that Cornell’s has stated that the level of the applicant’s interest is not considered in the application process.(Item C7 in Cornell’s Common Data Set).

Good luck!!

You have nice SAT, grades, and ECs. You should have a good chance of getting in I think. Good Luck!!! I hope I see you in the 2016 class!

Thanks so much!
