I truly appreciate it!
THANKS!

Bump due to inactivity.

I think your GPA may hurt you, otherwise you are a low match. I am confused if you are applying ED or RD; the thread title says ED, but the post says RD.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you get in, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if you got rejected. Good luck

your SAT is pretty low. and yeah your gpa is on the low side but still in a healthy range. i’m more concerned about the SATs. It sounds like your ECs are pretty good though so i second what polyosophy said. make sure your essays are stellar

Thank you very much for all of the feedback!

I am applying RD (sorry for the confusion).

I will work on my SAT, hopefully I can get it up 50 points or more. Can you gauge the importance of the writing section?

Once again, thanks for the feedback,
Rick

I’d say a medium reach. Your SATs would be alright if your UWGPA was higher. I’d definitely try to get the CR score up because it’s way below Cornell’s average. Your ECs are decently strong, but they might like the JROTC…are you planning on doing ROTC? That might help.

The fact that you didn’t post your writing score leads me to believe it’s low. If you want a true chance, I’d have to see that.

Also, based on all of the weaknesses in your app (for applying to Cornell…I think it’s actually good), you REALLY need to make sure you write superb essays that give the admissions officers a glimpse into your personality and convictions.

GOOD LUCK!!!

chance me back:

Yes, writing score is low.

Thanks for the reply!

An SAT like that isnt going to hurt you, but you can work up the CR. Your GPA is low for a school like that though, and so is you SAT II biology. I know that one is supposed to be very difficult, but ivys like to see 700s at least. You still stand a fair chance

Chance me: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1023269-another-idiot-wanting-chanced-nu-u-c-etc.html

For the purposes of setting a goal, what do you think would be a good SAT score to get to be more of a match for Cornell RD?

Cornell doesn’t consider Writing score.

The average SAT scores for Cornell are 680 for CR and 720 for M. I would try to get at least 670 on CR to have a decent chance.

Like most of the others said, Cornell is most likely a low/mid reach, depending on whether or not you are able to increase your SAT CR score. I wouldn’t worry too much about your GPA, considering your class rank, which is still very respectable. Good luck.

I want to thank everyone, the feedback is great! So my plan: take a lot of practice tests!
What do you think’s a good method for bumping up my CR score?

Keep it comin’, I’ll chance back!

Cornell is definitely a realistic goal. Again improvements in scores would help, but its not going to be the downfall :P

Good luck!

Haha, much appreciated!

SAT’s low for cornell i recommend you take them again

Yes, does anyone know if they accept the December SAT for RD?

Hopefully I’ll improve 50 points + by then!

Thanks for the comments!

I agree with earlier posts that your GPA and SATs are on the low side. However, if your ECs are as good as I think they are and you write some great essays, I could see you getting in ED (which should help considerably).

Thanks for the chance!

What would my chances look like if I had a CR in the range of 700+ for RD?

Don’t die on me now!

Would it make a difference if I included my Sophmore/Junior/Senior GPA which is: 3.8-3.85UW and 4.6W (out of 5)
