any tips/thoughts?

You’re in

@shannon14 should I mention that I missed 80+ days of school in freshman year bc of medical reasons? lots of my Bs are from then. I don’t want to sound like I’m justifying my Bs though.

It can’t hurt to include that information, seeing as though schools look for sudden drops/trends in students’ grades. Letting them know won’t detract from the rest of your application, in fact they often want students to justify these oddities so that they know you were not “slacking” or what not.

cool, thanks. any other thoughts/advice?

My only advice to you from now until it’s time to submit your application is to remain relaxed and try not to worry too much. I know how much stress and anxiety comes from this process, I’m going through it too! You have one of the most impressive applications I’ve seen and I don’t see you having an issue getting in to Cornell.

@shannon14 yeah it’s like 1 am here and I’m anxious lol (can’t sleep!). Thank you so much - I should probably try to sleep right now

Good luck with your applications!

@dalmation99 Wow! Your stats are really impressive and your ECs/awards are amazing!! I’m jealous of your SAT subject scores

The only weakness, in my opinion, is your somewhat low UW GPA (not really low, but low by CC standards where everyone has a 3.75+), but I think your rigorous course load should alleviate this. Especially since you’re applying early, I think you have a great chance!!!

Edit: I saw what you said about missing school and how this caused some of your Bs. I would definitely explain this, but not make it sound like an excuse, if that makes sense? Also, freshman year tends to not be the “make-it-or-break-it” year so with an upward trend/rigorous courseload you should be solid.

Your only problem will be deciding which awards and ECs to list on the Common App. You’re awesome. I am a little glad that I am waiting to apply RD now (also for chemical engineering, maybe I’ll see you there?!).

PS. Write a nice essay; the engineering essay prompt seems easier than the College of Arts and Sciences’ prompt.

“You’re in”

I’m also applying to Cornell ED, and just… wow. I hope that I’ll get in and get to meet you, because there’s just about no chance of you NOT being admitted. Honest congratulations on your incredible achievements, especially in the face of medical difficulties. Best of luck (you won’t need it).
