I think you would have been a lock if you had applied ED - the top 5%, EC’s and good SAT’s are all good. They definitely look behind the numbers - our family is proof of that. If your engineering essay is solid and sincere, I think you have a great shot.

SAT I - 700 (math); 750 (R) & 730 (W)
SAT II - Math - 800; Physics - 800 & Chemistry 770
Unweighted GPA : 4.0 (top 5% of my class)
Very good Student Recommendation Letters
Believe very good Essays &
Moderate EC.

Can you please let me know your current situation (like where you joined and what with what Engineering major)?

OP’s math SAT2 is too low for engineering. Math level 2 has a large curve and it’s expected for engineers to have an 800 on it. I scored a 770 and was only around the 80th percentile. Cornell wants better than that.

I’d say about average chance for regular, maybe little lower. ECs and scores are not the best and regular pool is very competitive.

Best way to know your chances? Check the historic trend of acceptances from your school and see what Cornell expects from students in your school and how many people get in every year. For top high schools, Cornell may be a little more lenient in terms of grades and scores.
