Hello everyone!
I’m applying ED to Cornell’s SHA program and if you could give me advice/opinions it would be VERY appreciated. My stats are as follows:
Disclaimer: I’m a senior in high school but I’m dual enrolled full time in the hospitality program at Florida Gulf Coast University. I went to one of the best public high schools in the country (consistently rated top 10) for my first two years of high school where I took a mixture of honors/regular/AP classes. My sophomore year of high school I moved to Florida and I spent my junior year at a public charter school.
Background: White/Female
GPA: 3.75/4.00 UW, 4.29 W (My GPA will go up a lot after first sem. this year)
ACT: 33/36 Composite
SAT: Never took
AP: Microeconomics (4) (The last two schools I’ve attended did not offer AP I took “AICE” classes and passed them all and am currently enrolled in all college classes)
Work Experience:
Worked for a makeup artist (interacted with customers, stocked products) (2010-2015)
Technology tutor for elderly at library (paid, grade 11, part of grade 12)
Guest Services Agent at the front desk of 4 diamond resort (I happen to live on an island that is a very popular vacation destination so it’s a very nice position and I work full-time (40 hours a week) because I only have to go to school twice a week due to my dual-enrollment. I only started this about a month ago but I plan on staying at least until next summer)
EC:
I’ve been in a bunch of different clubs and several sports but nothing significant and no notable leadership (I’ve been to 3 different schools in the past 3 years so nothing consistent)
Essays: Common app was pretty good and for the SHA one I am going to focus on my work experience & the fact that I attended the Cornell hotel summer college program
Interview: I signed up for one and got the email but nobody has contacted me yet?? I would love to do one but we will see.
Recs: I think my 2 teachers and counselors did good ones but not EXCELLENT, I did one additional from my boss at the library and I’m guessing hers was pretty good
I really, really would appreciate any insight or suggestions!! Thank you!!!
