Chance me for Cornell?

Yeah, so I've never done this before...i just post my stats, right?

SAT:2130
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Gpa Unweighted: 3.6
Weighted: 4.2

Classes: mostly regular with a few honors, but I've taken all the social studies APs (US, Euro, Human, World) and gotten 5s on all of them.

Member of Model UN club

Captain of the lacrosse team

Currently applying for National Merit Finalist, and I'm planning to major in IR.

Oh, and my dad went to Cornell. Does that help my chances?

I think you have a decent shot. Of course it is a slight reach, but not to sound racist but your ethnic background will definitely help you. Are you taking the SATs again? Good luck with everything and chance me back too!

I’m not an adcom or anything, but having only 2 EC’s and a low GPA are some pretty big strikes against you, unless your school has little to no clubs and you’re ranked highly. Being a Hispanic legacy will definitely help, though.

Wow you have a decent shot in getting there! You have legacy which will help. Your gpa and sat is on the lower end but I’d say your background, (again) legacy, and leadership will compensate for the lower scores! But I hope all goes well for you!

The lack of ECs and low GPA will hurt you, being a URM and legacy will help, but it will still be a reach.

2130 is way over 99th percentile for hispanics. That, good grades and legacy status (apply ED at Cornell to maximize the impact of legacy) suggest to me that you are a match (66 to 90 % shot at acceptance) there ED. Also, ECs not great, but I assume lacrosse takes a lot of time and being captain is impressive especially if you attend a diverse school where you have been elected by others from different backgrounds
