I think your chance will depend on what major or school you’re applying to at Cornell. You have amazing ECs and a pretty good ACT score. the only thing that seems low is your gpa. GOOD LUCK

Econ major and then probably transfer into Dyson for finance

And thank you for the chance by the way!

3.58 Weighted GPA is quite low.

If you get in, it’ll most likely be due to affirmative action.

0.00%

@Dishonored‌ doubtfully, I’m Hispanic and I have a 3.99UW/4.38 Cumulative W. I think they receive enough qualified URMs where they don’t have to lower the standards that much.

Back to original post: I’m not sure if you have been reading our ED post but the recent discussion has been on “fit,” so don’t make it to obvious you just plan on transferring to a school you would have 0% chance getting in to if you took the normal route. Anyways with an awesome essay, your background, and if your GPA has been showing upward trend, you have a chance (low however).

@ToolBoy‌ joined 5 minutes before posting that and only has 3 posts, two of which have been “0.00% chance.” Ignore him

Are you applying to Cornell’s CAS or AEM? Because the latter is much more difficult to get acceptance to.

You definitely have the ECs going for you. ACT seems on par, but again, I would focus on your GPA in an essay and explain the reason why it’s relatively low. Make them feel for you. Then again, I could be wrong, as I don’t know what to expect either. I am applying for ILR Transfer for Fall of 2015.

And if you’re looking into Econ and Finance, from what I understand ILR offers something similar. While it’s not the same degree, it incorporates both with labor law and public policy.

Even a 3.58 unweighted is almost garnteed a rejection or weight list. Apply to a place like NYU or Brandeis, those same ivy colleges. In my opinion, rutgers university and all the top state universities are the best to go to. You can become anything you want to become ( and easier to become them in comparison to an ivy).
