Chance me for CSU schools?

I am planning on Majoring in Civil Engineering, and I am looking to apply to

San Jose State
San Diego State
Cal State Long Beach
Cal Poly Pomona
Cal Poly SLO

CSU GPA: 4.12

ACT: 29 composite

Thanks!

You are in very good shape for all of them. The one caveat is that SLO uses some different criteria, including freshman grades and a more detailed review of the courses you took. All engineering disciplines are competitive your GPA is above but ACT is a little lower than avg. For that campus, I’ll give you a 50/50 shot. It will probably come down to your science, math and english courses.

Check it out here.

What is CSU GPA?

mamba, here is the GPA calculator for CSUs. Ninth grade is not counted, though I think SLO might include 9th (not sure). Only the a - g courses count, and extra points are given for honors and AP courses. Pluses and minuses don’t count.

There is then a formula for calculating in the ACT/SAT scores, which you can find here:

Some campuses have higher standards:

I’m trying to go to SDSU, SJSU, Cal Poly for Civil Engineering too! You seem to be in perfect shape for all of your schools except Cal Poly which is arguably the most competitive CSU but your chances aren’t bad at all. Can anyone tell me if OOS honors classes count for extra weight/credit for CSU GPA? I’m from Nevada so there’s no list to compare to…

^

Only AP Courses are weighted for out of state students, not honors or Pre-AP courses. So when you report your courses onto csu mentor, just list them as regular courses. I know it sucks, but CA is really picky about those things.
