Chance me for CWRU and/or RIT?

Caucasian male in private school
0 volunteer hours, 1.5 years of forensics involvement, trying Robotics this year if possible

SAT: 2140, retaking it in October or November
750 Math, 740 Writing, 650 Reading

No AP tests, but I'm taking 4 AP classes with multiple self-study subjects

Unweighted QPA: 3.54, due to very poor performance in freshman year and a lacking performance in sophomore year + 1st semester of junior year due to personal issues, especially depression.
Freshman year unweighted QPA - 3.18
Soph year unweighted QPA - 3.65
Junior year unweighted QPA - 3.8

I'm taking several difficult courses this year; in the past, I have had moderate and easy courses that I could have done well in, but chose to procrastinate. This year, I've finally acquired the motivation to challenge myself academically and, as such, I picked courses I'm sure I can excel in.

Other extracurricular info: 3-week online course in engineering taken from Brown University.

Upcoming full-year schedule:
AP US Gov
AP Calc AB
AP Chem
AP Stats
Honors Spanish 4
World Lit
Religion 4

As the thread title says, I'm mainly applying to Case Western Reserve University and RIT, but I will apply to a couple of backups.

I know both schools really well. What are your intended major(s)?

Computer Science. I may double-major in a related field, but my plan for now is to just major in that.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I’m thinking about Artificial Intelligence and Computer Engineering.

Your gpa is a bit low for both schools, but your sat should make it up for you.

CWRU and RIT have very different educational mission. Case is fundamentally a research university, where one can gain exposure/access to research. While its CS is not top notch, it is well respected and its top graduates can be found in top graduate programs. RIT is undergraduate and career focused. Its computing college is the largest in the developed world, and provides good academic training and job placement. However, it is not known to send its graduates to graduate schools.

You should be competitive for both schools, and likely get some merit scholarships. Good luck.

Alright, thanks for the advice. My grades will be much better this year, so it can only help my chances.
