Well, personally, I’d say it could be a longshot because of GPA and scores, but hey, you have as decent a shot as any with some of your hooks. Your ECs are interesting, and it looks like you’ve taken a pretty rigorous schedule. Do you have any targets/safeties if you get denied/deferred from Dartmouth?

Good hooks but low scores so I’d say reach

Your hooks significantly increase your challenges: African American (you’ve got that affirmative action working for you) and first generation is a pretty powerful combo.

I think those hooks coupled with your slightly average, if not less, puts you in good running. You also have leadership in your extracurricular activities which is a plus. Your summer activities also sound interesting if not unique, which is helpful.

I agree: test scores and GPA would be low for Dartmouth, but your hooks could help you!

I mean, if I up my test scores to a 1500, (because I doubt I can increase my GPA at this point), would it be more possible?

@SeinfeldFan1, UVa? NYU? BU?

Is it really a longshot with a higher SAT score and the hooks that I have? Even though my GPA isn’t perfect - I wouldn’t say it is that bad considering my school is quite nationally recognized (and rated hardest in the state).

@SeinfeldFan1 not much of a longshot, I agree. At the very worst, you have some good safeties/targets (UVA may be really hard also, though).

Your hooks are good, if you can get that 1500 SAT then I’d say you have a more reasonable chance. However, this school is basically a reach for nearly everyone, and will still be one for you even with a higher SAT, so good safeties/matches wil be key (you will surely be able to find some with your stats). Good luck! Chance back?
