Essay: For my common app essay I spoke about growing up in a culture that venerates athletics over academics, and explored how I’m trying to change that.

Honors: Varsity Wrestling Letter. Governor’s School of North Carolina Attendee. Tenor Section Leader. Choir Won WRAL choir Competition. Choir Invited to Sing at Duke Chapel. Choir sang at Northwestern University last year.

Doing research on Abstinence Only Education and it’s effect of adolescent sexual health.

Decent. It would be helpful to know if there are others from your school apply there and how their stats compete – you’re competing against your own peers as much as anything.

A Princeton study found that African American applicants on average receieve a 270-point SAT advantage over white American students, so your 1340 effectively translates to a 1600–on average–in comparison to white Americans. I don’t know whether Davidson views it that way, but I’d be very surprised if you don’t get in.
