Chance Me for Dickinson College Please?

Dickinson College is the only school I have toured that I felt a connection to. I am in love with everything about the institution, and honestly could not see myself anywhere else.

My GPA is 97.31 weighted (my school doesn't release unweighted), and I'm 19th in a class of 242. My SAT is an 1840 (CR 610, M 550, W 680), and I plan on retaking it on October 11th. I've taken four AP exams: US History (4), Human Geo (5), Spanish Language (4), and English Language (4). This year I am taking 5 AP courses and 2 honors courses. I'm the president of FBLA, treasurer of National Spanish Honor Society, Parliamentarian of NHS, and Color Guard Captain of marching band. I also do volunteer work as a museum docent at my local trust. My writing skills are very strong, and I feel as if my common application essay is very well done.

What are my chances early action? What about early decision? I'm expressing interest in their History or Anthropology program on my application.

They are test optional, so don’t send your test scores unless you get them up higher than they currently are. You want to get them up to at least CR 640, M 650, Wr 640 – that is about the 50% point for each score.

If you have a chance and think you are a strong interviewer, then try to get an interview (either on campus, or sometimes they do them when the admissions officers travel around). I think my D1’s interview helped her a lot.

ED may improve your admissions chances, but what is your financial situation? My D1 applied EA and was accepted (probably a bit lower GPA, although can’t tell because yours is weighted, but somewhat better test scores). Apply EA for sure even if you decide not to go ED. They want kids that they know are interested. One of my D’s classmates with very similar stats and ECs applied RD her year, but had never visited or shown interest, and they rejected her.

Good luck, it is a great school, and my D was very happy there!

I just got mid 700s in CR and Wr for the November SAT. My math score is still only 580, not moving much. Is my new score of 2060 good for Dickinson?

I don’t think Dickinson considers the writing score. What is your CR+M score? That is the one that you will want to compare to the 25th/75th percentiles to consider your odds of admission.
