Recs:
My swim coach - AT LEAST a 9/10, my coach has seen me transform throughout high school and knows how dedicated I am and how much I hate to lose, he told me he has been writing my essay since my freshman year so that he would be able to really show my growth
My AP Chem teacher - I’ve known her my whole life, she knows that I will always go the extra mile with my work

Essays:
My Common App essay was about failure, so I wrote about my experience of qualifying for championships in swimming. Essay was very unique, every teacher that read it got goosebumps. Was more of a story, which teachers liked. I’d rate it 9/10, simply because I’m overly critical
I wrote the same essay for each of the schools “Why _______?” and talked about the opportunities after graduation, the ability to go to a top school and to change the world. Probably an 8/10, made it unique for each school, but followed the same outline.
For GT and UNC, I wrote essays about my life, about my mom’s struggle with breast cancer and about losing my dog. Again, the teacher who read the essays cried for both of them and loved how I connected my mom’s journey with cancer with my goal of finding a cure.

Are my math and science scores too low for Tulane and Vanderbilt since I want to major in biochemistry? Do I even have a chance at Duke and Vanderbilt? Really worried, already submitted my applications but I’m definitely having anxiety about admissions. I plan on interviewing at Duke and Vanderbilt, which I think can help me, as I’m very outgoing. How much weight does an interview have on an application? Thanks in advance

Duke doesn’t do in person interviews anymore, they are done by alumni. The alumni interview doesn’t count for much at all.
