Hi guys, I'm going into Senior Year at a pretty prestigious Catholic private school, and I'm wondering whether my statistics are good enough for me to get into Duke ED. I'm VERY bad with testing, but have been improving (as you will see in the statistics that will follow).

My Courses (throughout Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Year)
- 2 APs
- 5 Honors
- Upward trend in the difficulty of my classes (if that helps) and my GPA has remained pretty consistent.
- Senior Year courses include five APs and 1 Honors Course.
- Total: 7 APs, and 6 Honors

My Grades:
GPA: 3.8 UW
AP Scores:
History: 5
Calculus AB: 4
SAT: 1910 (710 CR, 650 M, and 550 W)
* This will definitely be improving to around a 2200 next time I take it in October.
Subject Tests: They're awful. Period. But I have been studying very hard and hope to get an 800 on Biology M and a 750+ on Math 1.

Extracurriculars:
- Volunteer Service:
Hospital Volunteer Service: 320 hours between 2 hospitals
Library Volunteer Service: 50 hours in one library branch
- Write for the school newspaper
- Clubs:
LaSallian Youth (a club in which we basically help the needy)
Going to a trip to an Indian Reservation for this Club
Model UN (going to a trip next year)
SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions)
Spanish Club
- National Honors Society Inductee
- Published Research on Alzheimer's Disease (Hopefully this is my hook)

So, there you have it guys. I'm also planning to take the ACTs in September, which I find thoroughly enjoyable, as I have gotten a score of 35 on my first practice test. I hope I am able to pull off a 36.

I think you will have an excellent shot with your new test scores. Just really focus on these tests (I’m serious, get off this website and go study) and write great essays, you’ll have as good a chance as the next person.

I would say that you have a good shot, especially with ED. Try getting your SAT score to a 2100+ if you can. Your community service is also pretty good! You are also taking challenging courses, which is always great! Overall, you have a good shot. Just try to increase your SAT.

Chance me back?: Chance me (I’ll Chance Back!!) JHU, GW, NYU, BU, UVA,UConn, Wake Forest, and Brown

I think you have a pretty decent chance too. Like someone suggested, make sure to have some back up schools. And improve your test scores (especially your SAT). I have a good friend who is at Duke and he loves it. Wish you luck in your endeavors!

The research will definitely help. I’m thinking of applying ED to Duke as well. I would say fix the test scores and your extra curriculars may be a little weak. But I can see you have a passion for the medical field, which is good.

I know that Duke LOVES the higher GPA’s and SAT scores, and if you do score a 2200, I think you’ll have a great chance to get in, especially with those awesome ec’s you have. I would recommend getting maybe 1 or 2 leadership roles, even if they’re minor in your clubs that you’re involved in, especially those humanitarian organizations that you listed. So wish you luck!

I’ve also published a handbook for volunteers working in the ER and have gotten a letter of recommendation from the head of the volunteer department in one of the hospitals I volunteer at. Do these help?
