I'm white, middle class, and from public school
I think that's about it....I'm not from North Carolina if it matters.
Go go go! :)

Try to bring up the math score in your SAT to ~750. Maybe take SAT Math IIC. GPA looks good. EC’s look good, especiallly the volunteering.

the chance would depend on what major you plan to go into. at this point i would say reach, maybe low reach. if you bring the math score up, get the officer position, write some good essays, you’d be a high match/low reach. good luck!

Thanks!
I can write some damn good essays! Is Duke one of those schools that only counts your best score in each section? Cuz I’d hate to retake the SAT with the risk of doing worse on writing/reading.

I actually just went to a Duke info session not too long ago, and the admissions officer that did the presentation said they do superscore SATs, so you can retake them without worrying…they’ll take the best of each section!

Yes!!! Thank you very very much! The thing is, I wanna apply early decision. That deadline is November 1st, and the next SAT isn’t til October 10. :(

Ah ok well then that’s for you, all right! Apparently their early decision acceptance rate is a lot higher…they said 30% vs. 16% for regular decision at the info session. Good luck!

Really work on your essays and try to raise the scores if possible.
I had similar stats: 2210 reasoning; 800, 790, 770 on the SAT IIs; unique activities; and state/national awards, but I was rejected.
I can’t really say what chances you have, but it will definitely help your chances if you do the above.
Good luck!

its probably a low reach/high match because of the selectivity, those test scores are around the necessary range and your gpa is good, its all about the essays and recs, try to make yourself look unique

wooo I already got 3 teachers to write letters of recommendation. Will getting all my stuff in really early help my chances? (still doing Early Decision of course)

I believe that you stand a pretty good chances, just up the SAT a little more. And letters of recommendation TOTALLY help a lot, especially if there from teachers that you have a really good connection with. I think that you’ll be fine! And don’t forget a stellar essay too!
