Chance me for Duke/Washington and Lee

Hi! So I am a rising senior and I am very interested in attending either Duke or Washington and Lee University. I will apply early decision to Duke in the fall, and if I do not get in I will apply to the second early decision deadline at W&L. Hopefully that will boost my chances at both schools!

yeah i was worried about that  i’ve never been very good at math standardized tests…but thanks for the advice! :)

**just an update. I just got my scores from the April act and I got:
English: 36
Math: 31
Science: 34

Anybody else?

Duke: Possible
W&L: Likely

Duke: High Match/Low reach
Washington and Lee: High match

I think you will get into one of them if your essays are superb. You don’t rly have any outstanding ECs, but essays and recs go a long way.

I would pick a couple schools to apply to RD if those 2 dont work out though.

Chance me back! =D

I just got my Sat II scores…
Literature 760
US History 800
Again, that probably doesn’t change anything but I don’t know for sure. Thank you to everybody who has chanced me so far! I have actually changed my mind and will be applying only to W&L early decision. But please keep chancing me! I will chance you back! :)

I would think W&L is possible and likely. I would say you could get into Duke, but anyone saying you will is foolish – they’re as selective as any Ivy and just as hard to get into. Apply, interview, show interest and it’s possible.

Washington and Lee gives a lot of preference to legacies, and your stats speak for the rest. I have a cousin who got into Duke with a 3.5/2050, but his EC’s were out of this world. You’re well-rounded, but I don’t think anyone should be certain about such a selective school. You certainly have a shot wherever you apply. :)

Would like to point out that I got into WUSTL with a 3.5. GPA is less important than rank/percentile, EC, and fit. (SAT/ACT scores matter less than rank).

Thanks for everyones help so far! Here are my most recent scores…

AP US-5
AP Bio-5
AP Lang-5

ACT Superscore

English-36
Math-31
Reading-36
Science-36
Writing-34

okay, so you now have a 35 which is REALLY GOOD! (idk if W&L and Duke Superscore the ACT though…) either way you at least have a 34, just send all your test scores in and they’ll know that you are capable of a 35! :D

i think that you’ll get into both. If you like one more than the other apply ED, especially Duke b/c it’s a bit more competitive. Either way, even if you don’t apply ED, I would wager that you’ll get in to both :D

chance back!

just out of curiosity, where did you end up attending?
