I'm a rising senior at a Georgia magnet school and I'm a tad nervous for applying for tech (or any college for that matter.
UW GPA 3.798
W GPA 4.00
I've taken 6 ap's so far and plan on taking 5-7 more next year
2200 super score on sat (taken it twice, considering a third time [opinions on that are also appreciated] )
I got a C (79) in sophomore world lot (teacher was a total f'ing prick)
Other than that, all A's and some b's sophomore year
Middle eastern male
AIME qualifier (last year)
Also, would taking the act be a good idea? I feel as if I could've done better on the sat and that I possibly could score higher on the act

Yes, take the ACT they will super score so It might help. It can’t hurt.

BTW, I would not mention what you think of the teacher that gave you a C in your essays…

As of now, are my chances for getting accepted at tech w/ EA good? All of the classes I take are rigorous courses.

Your in state and applying ea. I’m gonna be honest. It’s gunna be a shoo in.
However. YOU MUST HAVE TAKEN AP CALC AB AND BC. I can not emphasize how important that is. They will not accept you otherwise. Well unless you are a URM, and your gunna need a 700+Math But your 2200 should already have that.
Good luck! I’m applying this year as well(:

You will most likely get in because of AIME qualifier.

You do not have to take calc BC. Several got in from our HS with just AB calc. Tech did report that 94% of incoming freshman have had a calc class. You also don’t have to have a 700 on math SAT. My D is not a URM and got in with a 670. (although females may be considered a urm at tech )They look at the total picture, grades/rigor, test scores, EC’s and essay. If OP doesn’t have some EC’s or write a decent essay he is not necessarily a shoo-in.

Also be sure to visit Tech and try to attend a more detailed visit such as Connect with Tech. Also contact the admission rep assigned to your area. Send an email or try to meet with them. I agree with Stilltay- you just need Calculus- it doesn’t matter which one as long as it is calculus. We learned this from the rep assigned to our area. My DD had transferred h.s. and her previous one did not offer it so she couldn’t take it at her new h.s. The Tech rep said they wouldn’t even consider her application without calculus so my DD took precal the summer before senior year so that she could take AP cal her senior year.

Also be sure to apply EA. You have a better chance via EA. Also Tech doesn’t really offer Fin. Aid to OOS students other than loans. During our special visit many families were asking the admission staff about it and mainly the Provost Scholarship is what helps OOS students. Tech said your freshman year is the toughest in terms of trying to afford it. During the subsequent years you can go abroad and only pay in-state tuition and you can co-op which would allow you to earn enough to pay for the next semester.

Good luck.

Yeah I’ve taken ab and plan on taking bc this year. So as of now, my chances are decent? There’s nothing I should be stressed out about or worrying about?
If there is anything else I should improve (that’s humanly possible) do mention it please.
Thank you though
Also, @ AopsMaster804
Are you joking? I really can not tell.
I only got a 2 on AIME.

Thank you so so much though. Lastly, could you give me a percentage in terms of likelihood that I’ll be accepted through early app?
Thanks, I really really appreciate it!

“Your in state and applying ea. I’m gonna be honest. It’s gunna be a shoo in.”

Nobody is a shoo in at GT anymore. Remember they are now using the common app. What were your AP scores? Were they high enough that GT will give you credit? Have you sent them in to GT? Have you taken any SAT subject scores? If not I would try to take a couple. If the scores are good I would send them. Again I would take the ACT. If the scores are good send them in too. They are going to consider everything. My DS got in EA the year before the common app.there were kids at his school that year who had better GPA’s than you that got deferred. I believe one of the reasons DS got in EA was not only because of his GPA but he also took both the SAT,ACT,Subject tests and had high AP scores. Everything little thing can help. IMO the more scores that show you can do the work the better your chances are.
