I applied early action, and i’m getting nervous! Please let me know what you think of my chances:
SAT - 2120/2400, 1460/1600 (Math 800, critical reading 660, writing 660)
SAT IIs - Math I 660, American history 620.
My school is a very competitive public school in westchester new york, it doesn’t rank but i’d assume i’m around 50/350.
I have a 92/100 GPA, and just for reference only 3 people have above a 95, and about 10 have a 95 etc.
Freshman and sophomore year I took spanish and math honors (most available)
Junior year I took AP American, honors math, and honors english (3 out of 5 honors/aps)

-I sent in my 1st quarter grades senior year, I’m taking AP Calculus BC (90), AP economics (94), AP environmental (98), college composition (92), and college spanish (90).
I applied to the lynch school of education which apparently is easier to get into
Haven’t seen any recommendations but I’m sure they are good

PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK! Thanks so much!

Judging by the numbers you stand a pretty good chance of being accepted…but you did not provide any info about your ECs, volunteer work, jobs, awards, etc.

Dear weeger : Among the numbers concern for early action is the 50/350 class ranking. At Boston College, in the final pool, 80% of students come from the Top 10% of their High School Class, 96% from the Top 25%. You fall into this second bracket which BC is typically not looking to fill from the early applicant pool. Your ACT score at 31 is fine and a balanced breakdown might offset your class rank calculation. Your AP loading is fine, but that would need to be gauged against the most rigorous curriculum available at your school. (For example, your comment about 3 out of 5 honors/APs in junior year would potentially be a flag for not taking the toughest curriculum.)

In your extra curriculars, you do not show music (aside from lessons), fine arts, or any comminity volunteerism. Hopefully, you were able to show some performance background or volunteer background to augment your sports and leadership. These are definitely NOT deal breakers for you, but areas where others will have more to say in the EA process.

In closing, an EA acceptance is certainly not out of the question - but we just wish that your ranking amongst your peers was higher. Good luck!

Dear weeger : Well, I am very optimistic for you now, that is for sure ! Evaluation aside, we are very happy that your numbers stood the admissions test for the early access program. Congratulations and we hope that your Boston College experience is an excellent adventure for you!
