Hey folks, the College of Human Ecology is my dream school. I want to go into public health and policy, though I’m worried that my GPA and standardized test scores are too low for an Ivy League institution like Cornell despite my EC’s. My EC’s show a lot of leadership and my job and volunteer experience is extremely relevant to public health. For background, I’m a white male from a moderately prestigious NYC public high school (in-state, which should help me out).

Job/Work Experience: Intern for a big name NYC politician and public health advocate, Camp Counselor
Volunteer/Community service: Volunteer for nonprofit bookstore that’s part of an organization that advocates for HIV/AIDS prevention and provides services for the homeless
*Note about SAT’s: I got a 201 on my PSAT and then went in cold for the actual test. It was two months after I start battling a severe panic disorder and I was in an extremely rough and unstable situation with my family. I plan on retaking it in October and I’ll prepare like my life depended on it.
If anyone could give me some insight into my chances, that would be great.
