I’m very sorry to hear that about people you know, I never knew anyone who had cancer i imagine it would be difficult to watch someone go through it.
I was raised in a very positive household so my parents taught me to see the good in all situations, they were very supportive of me throughout the process and we kept the whole situation to ourselves so as to avoid drama or gossip (which I am so happy we did) alas there were dark times when I felt sad of course but I am very proud of myself in the end.

anyone else have any thoughts? or advice to give me? once again I cannot thank all of you enough for taking the time to talk with me.

Reading just this CC post makes me want to urge you to apply to even better colleges(though Cornell is really great), because if I were an adcom, I’d admit you in a heartbeat. No questions asked. Imo, Cornell ED: You’re in. 95%.

PS: Chance me back please :3 http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1572592-columbia-ed-top-state-schools-ea-chance-international.html

so kind of you to say really! I am so flattered by that.

I just don’t think im qualified number-wise…unfortunately having cancer really torched my gpa but I think I have shown adequately that such numbers have not defined my intelligence at all

Numbers are a function of your awesomeness, not vice-versa. Don’t worry so much about them, and just keep swimming(<3 Dory). I lost my grandma to cancer, so I know how it is. You’re an extremely strong girl, and I admire that very much. Kudos!
Also, fellow debater here. Do you do MUN too?

I think it’s a match for you! you will definitely get selected!

Why is there even a chance page. I think everyone here would agree with me if I said you’d definitely get in.

I’d say Cornell is a high match for you – no doubt.

You’re going to get in, what are you worried for? With all that, you would get into all 8 Ivies with no problem.

thanks to all of you for your feedback, much appreciation!

well, i would say i am worried mainly because of the numbers. regardless, of the numbers i believe i have shown cornell that i am a thoughtful and capable student and human being who will contribute greatly to their community. in my ideal world, they will look past my extenuating circumstances, and see all that i have accomplished regardless. i am still being hopeful though, even applying is a dream come true to me.

anyone else have any thoughts please comment them below and if you want me to chance you leave a link and i will!

Stanfordmania - Alas i do not do MUN, there is no way i could fit in my schedule. I admire the kids at my school who participate, they put countless hours into it, always amazes me. I’m a debater by nature mainly because my mom is a lawyer!

For you? Insta-admission. :)

Yeah we’re an obsessive bunch!

You’re definitely in, with minority status and such a unique story!

im really praying that that is the case ughhhh

I know how you feel, I’m waiting on Carnegie Mellon ED as a supposedly qualified applicant and I’m suuuuper nervous, but I really would be shocked if you didn’t get in!

I think that you should be fine. Being Hispanic helps us both and your application will seem very unique. Good luck with the rest of your applications!

Thank you, good luck to you too!

Best of luck dream1111, thanks for chancing me and do let us know if you get in!
