I can’t imagine you getting rejected honestly

I don’t have too much to say in addition to what everyone else has said. Unlike a lot of other applicants who have done a lot of activities, yours are actually focused on what you want to do, which in turn relates to the problems you went through. Not sure if I’ve seen a better match.

No idea about grades, however. If you get passed the so-called grades/test scores screening, I would be legitimately surprised if you didn’t get in.

I think people here are giving you possibly unrealistic chances based upon the hard to decipher grades you provided and the bias over you disease. First off Skin Cancer is the most common type of cancer in the world with nearly every type treatable, so while I am not trying to demean what you went through, I am not sure how much trouble you had with the disease. That being said just about anyone can go through a tragedy or disease you just to have to endure, note that on most applications they don’t just ask if you faced obstacles in your life, they also ask how did you over come them. You currently have a 3.6 un-weighted gpa at a Catholic High School, and I am really not sure how much this is going to benefit you. Also if you do get rejected the fact you applied ED to an ivy league school might make (and I assume is the case here) other schools think you don’t actually want to attend there schools and you are just using them as ‘back-ups’, because you should take note on the fact that because you entered your social security number on the common app, they can see exactly where you applied, and even if you are accepted, they now know you have to attend so there isn’t necessarily overt incentive for them to offer you financial aid, and though that’s not necessary related to your chances I just though you should know.

Wow, you’re soo in there, I can already see the first day of class pictures! Your credentials are amazing, the best luck to you.

Yeah, you’re fine.

Nonsense. No school knows where else you apply unless you tell them.

However, I do agree that some people are being overoptimistic here. I agree that you have a very good chance. But I don’t think “you’re in for sure” beyond doubt. Something may go wrong for all we know; we haven’t read your essays and we don’t know what your reccs look like either. What if Cornell seems to think that your whole essay comes off with a really big pity-me vibe? That’s certainly possible and can get you rejected. So although you do have a good chance of getting in, don’t sit back until December 15th thinking you’re guaranteed acceptance and therefore aren’t going to work on your other applications. Just my 2cents.

Cornell ED is a high match to me based on your circumstances.

chance me?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1575443-chance-me-my-ed-ea-hyp-mit-please-will-chance-back.html

Your ACT might be a little low, but your unique story and ED make up for that. You have a great shot (high match) and good luck!! Chance back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1577460-chance-blue-devil-duke-ed-hopeful-receive-chance-return-2.html

I have posted in other threads before I found this one. Hopefully the more threads I post my info in the quicker I can get a response. For starters here is some background information. I am currently attending Northern Virginia Community College and I am finishing my first semester. I plan on applying to Cornell at the end of my second year. I currently have A’s in all my classes so far so I would assume that would be a 4.0. In addition I was very sick in high school and I was lucky to come out with the GPA I did (have chronic joint pain in every joint in my body). In terms of my SAT I have to go find my scores but they were mediocre I plan to retake it October of next year and study my butt off during the summer. Also in terms of my background my mom is Spanish and my father is German.

My Stats:

Major applying for: Accounting
Applying for transfer as a: Junior
High School GPA: 3.0
Current GPA: 4.0
Courses Taken:
German
Accounting 211
English 111
Western Civ
Essay: Have yet to write one but I know how important this aspect of the application is.
Recommendations: German professor who went to school at Georgetown (don’t know if where he went is relevant), a business professor from Georgetown University McDonough school of business, my accounting professor, the head of the Employee benefits security administration IT department at the US department of labor, and I’m sure that I could find more if need be.

Extra curricular activates:
-Interned at Georgetown McDonough school of business working with business professors and assisting students with IT
-interned, worked and currently employed at the US department of Labor doing IT
- I started my own video game business with some friends of mine
- Go to the CES in Las Vegas every year to network with real professionals in the business world
- Was the VP of the German club before the program was terminated at my high school
-Played football for 3 years in high school - I am also planning on taking a non student business class at Georgetown university next summer which does count as college credit

I just want opinions of my current status and want to know what else I can do to improve my chances.

Good luck to all

I don’t think a 33 act is low ^^ it’s Above the 75% for cornell and especially for the Ag school which OP is applying - it’s above it too.
you’re very unique applicant, not only your story with cancer but in your ECs/accomplishments/interests/work (dog showing at Eukenuba?! featured in Vogue? you’re cool that’ll help! not to mention an awesome Gold Award)
IMO this could go either way - you could be accepted or rejected. but I think you understand this and either way be proud of yourself.

I have high hopes for you

wow i am extremely curious to see how this turns out
really hope you are accepted, you seem very authentic

RESULTS!
I know I haven’t been on here, been working really hard on school and other things

so I was deferred after all, actually really pleased with this I never would have thought of even applying to such an amazing school, and a few years ago there was a chance I wouldn’t have made it this far with my melanoma. hopefully everything works out in RD and I’ll get a congratulations and finally become a big red. any tips you guys have or insight is always really welcomed.

guess my app is so cool they just wanna read it twice right, haha? ;)

SO what’s the verdict?
