FWIW from a random poster :slight_smile:

Your case is a hard one, because there is nothing that strikes as being very strong, except possibly your research paper. At the same time, there is nothing that is low, except possibly 32 in Maths ACT (which is in bottom 25% for engineering admits at Northwestern). Not finishing AP calculus or any AP science by the end of 11th grade may also be viewed as a negative.

@osuprof Thanks for the reply! My school is weird in its scheduling, as senior year is the only year that one can take AP science or math classes, and it doesn’t offer many AP classes in general. My course load of 6 AP’s is very rigorous and above average for my school. With this in mind, what do you think my chances are? :slight_smile:

The average applicant probably has a 10% shot of getting in. An exceptional applicant, ie someone who is twice as likely to get in, would only have a 20% of getting in. You have to ask yourself, is your profile average compared to your cohorts overall? If yes, then you probably have a 1 in 10 shot of getting in.

@pacepea huh? it’s more like 40% for ED…

I think being from MA is a plus, but as @osuprof pointed out, you will be on the low end for math accomplishment for NU engineering. If your AP Physics is Calc based, that will help, and BTW, NU does not give AP credit for the non-calc based AP Physics.

@nugraddad I’m currently taking AP Physics C Mechanics, so it is Calc based course

@Jack McDonough - Congratulations on the Calc Physics C - and MORE good news - Most of “NUT”, the NU Ultimate Team is enrolled at McCormick! :slight_smile: http://nutultimate.com/tournaments-history/
