I will be submitting an arts supplement, and my recs are fairly strong. I want to major in Environmental Science and Architecture, and I'm completely in love with the school. I'm visiting this Friday to get a better feel for it.

What’s the breakdown of your SAT scores? CR + math over 1400 would put you in a good position. Your activities sound very good. Of course, it will be easier to predict chances after the October scores come in. Are you taking another SAT II? (those scores can be submitted instead of SAT I).

My combined reading + math SAT scores are just shy of 1400 at 1370. I’m really hoping I broke the 2100 mark this time around. I’m not planning on taking my SAT II’s again, I know if I had studied the first time around I could have done better, but the grades aren’t abysmal (I hope… :P)

I forgot to mention that I did a summer session at UC Berkeley, taking Comparative Literature and Philosophy. I got A’s in both classes and UC Berkeley gave me some letter saying that I was one of the top high school students there that summer. I don’t know if that helps anything though :P

Where are you from? If you’re not from the Northeast, your chances will improve. Good luck!

Good luck this time around! 1370 is not out of the ballpark and you will probably do better. The Berkeley thing sounds good. So many high school students do summer pre-college programs that it’s not easy to earn some distinction. Maybe your counselor can advise whether to actually send the letter or whether s/he can refer to it in the counselor letter or something.

I was born in Ohio, but unfortunately I’m a white girl who lives in Westchester.

Your scores are actually quite good, with the 2 SAT2s above 700 in different fields. You sound really interesting, and your community service looks like a strength. I don’t think your SATs will make any difference.Polish your essay and show your passion! I think you look great!

My SAT scores are now a
Math - 680
Reading - 790
Math - 700

Giving me a 2170. Good enough?

Also, could a kind of rushed art supplement hurt my application?

It depends on whether it makes you look unprepared or less serious.
My S with better SAT1(800,760,690) and a 4.0 in IB was waitlisted. Prob in top 5%, school doesn’t rank.
Similar activities/awards.Made the mistake of not applying ED because he wanted to go to the Big H(Midd was second choice) Waitlisted at H, too. He had the writing piece, and the student gvt piece, and had been on track/xc and had been student gvt pres, etc etc etc.
I recommend applying ED with the best application you can muster. Stay up late, fed ex things, whatever. You only get one shot at Ed at your dream school.
Happy ending, my S came off the wait list and is a happy Feb admitted 2nd semester Midd kid. His bro the athlete went ED…Lessons for all to contemplate.
