Chance me for EDII

Hi guys,

I just got rejected from CMC...
I'm an international student living in Africa (Tunisia) and need a lot of FA.

Please chance me!
Thanks :)

My stats: 2160 SAT (650 CR, 780 M, 720 W),
SAT II Math 2, French, Literature (650-720 don't know yet)
GPA 3.56 (Cumulative) 3.89 (Senior) UW for both
IB TOK, Geo, Math, Design Tech, Econ, English Literature, and French

ECs: Swimming (10-12) Captain
Orphanage (11-12) Founder and leader
School Class Leader (11)
School Vice President (12)
Green Team leader (10-12)
NHS Member (11-12)

Essay: Good (not great),
Recommendations: Very good

i would say its like a 50/50 shot. I know my friend just got rejected with a 1470/1600 sat and a 3.7 UW gpa so its tough to say

do you think its worth applying ED? I need a lot of FA (I can only pay 20k)… @joey999

I don’t you will make in RD. You may have a chance in EDII

@moneyp‌ do you think Colgate will give me around 39-40k if I apply for ED II?

Luckyguy7,

I have to ask how much you know about US college financial aid adminstration. I mean, who can give an answer to your question apart from a financial aid officer following an assessment of your specific circumstances in the context of their available money and priorities.

May I suggest you look at the Colgate thread on the topic started by veratreasure and use the calculator discussed to get your investigation underway. And then contact the Office of Financial Aid with your questions.

Good luck with your efforts!

Markham, thank you very much for the help. I shall do that for sure.

Do you think I have a shot applying to EDII or RD?

Given that I personally do not believe that “chance me” threads are of much value at all, I would recommend you review the colgate.edu median statistics re scores, grades and the like for last year’s entering class. There is, of course, no representation about preparatory schools’ relative weighting, applicants’ essay qualities, nor anything about an applicant’s position in the mix of several thousand others.

You already know that ED applicants can have a type of advantage though.

I hope your research gives you some peace of mind as you dimension the college application process.

Good luck with your search!
