My current dilemma is that I believe I have a decent shot at getting into L&S, but I'd rather apply to EECS or at least another engineering major because I'm a math-science guy. Also, I kind of don't want to jeopardize my position as an IAP nominee which is why I've been vacillating on this topic lately.</p>
<p>Stats:
California resident</p>
<p>GPA: 3.6 UW, 4.0 W, AMAZING upward trend (if that matters), rank is roughly 120/1000 (big school, haha)
SAT Reasoning: 620 CR, 780 Math, 730 Writing, (2130)
SAT Subjects: 800 Math2, 770 Physics, 750 U.S. History
ACT: 29 Composite
AP: 5 Calculus AB, 5 U.S. History, 5 Physics B, 4 Eng. Lang. and Comp.
Toughest courseload offered at school (Taking 5 AP courses currently)</p>
<p>ECs:
Math Club President, member since 11th grade
Californians for Justice Campaign Committee Member since 10th grade
Interact Club since 9th grade
Cross country for 2 years</p>
<p>Your GPA is a little low. SAT score is okay and you have good SAT II scores. Upward trend doesn't really matter. ECs are a little sparse. I would say ~30% chance for L&S and ~15% for EECS.</p>
<p>I'd say reach for L&S and a big reach for EECS. Your GPA is a bit weak for Berkeley, and you don't fall into the top 10%. Your SAT I is good, and your SAT IIs are especially strong. Your ECs are rather average, and don't really show a passion for the major you're intending.</p>
