Hey,
I’m an international student & would like to know my chances for Electrical Engineering to the following universities:
UIUC
Georgia Tech
UMich
Cornell
Stanford
UT Austin
UCLA
UCB
UCSD

I have a 30 ACT (E-34,M-31,R-24,S-30) I know my reading scores are low,but since I’m applying for engineering will that be important ? Also have a SAT 2 - Math-720 Chem-620 (I’m not submitting Chem)

I have great teacher recommendations & Amazing EC’s-
Head Boy of the school
Best Outstanding student for the year 2013-2014
Tennis (9 years)-won many trophies
Debating(4 years)-won many prizes
Dance(9 years)-performed & choreographed many events
Courses in robotics
2 Internships ( one at a solar power plant and another at a chocolate factory during summer)
Hosting of many events at school,etc.

My grades are pretty good! 85-90% with a predicted 92% for class 12…
Please can u chance me for the schools !

Your chances are very low at all of those schools with your ACT and subject test scores as an international applicant. Have you looked at the common data set for these schools?

I hope you have some safeties in your own country.

UIUC - High Match
Georgia Tech - Low Reach/ Reach
UMich - Low Reach/Reach
Cornell - Reach
Stanford - High reach
UT Austin - Low reach
UCLA - Low reach/Reach
UCB - Reach
UCSD - High Match

All these schools will be tough to get into, i won’t be surprised if you get into more than one, but i won’t be surprised if you get into none too.

Apply to some safety/match schools
Check out Purdue, Texs A&M, Penn State.

You NEED to increaseyour reading score. It isn’tthat hard, buy a good prep book and keep doing practice tests until you get at least a 31

@mnm111 I applied to safe schools too but here is the list of the schools I really want to go.Anyways I know I’ll end up somewhere amazing.Hope that you too will.Thanks Anyway :slight_smile:

@ss124081‌ Thanks for the reply :smiley: … I did apply to the other 3 as my safety schools,but was very eager to know about the more selective schools.Would be happy if I got in any 1 of the above! Hoping that my EC’s and Essays will be good enough :)>-

@outlooker‌ Yes I know but I never had a great time with reading and I’m in my senior year so I can’t take it again.Also,in feb I have final exams so it would be impossible to take another attempt ! Thanks for you help though… :)>-

Don’t worry, I’m sure everything will turn out fine …
I have a 90% predicted for 12th, 2090 SAT and i got into UMich CoE :stuck_out_tongue: . So essays and ECs really did help me.
