I am planning on applying into computer engineering, but if there is an easier way to get in, let me know...I REALLY want to get in

4.0 gpa un-weighted
public school Oregon (not too competitive, most go to StateU)
1/392 rank (valedictorian)
current courses (4 AP's and the rest are college credit courses) My school only has a few AP's I am taking all of them.
31 ACT
Bad SAT 2's, wont send them
2060 SAT superscore (probably wont send

Assuming I have good EC's and good essays/recs, what are my chances for admission?

Vandy is very competitive. But you should apply, only way to find out.

Any responses on “chances” here, well meaning or otherwise, are not reliable. If you have a good high school counselor who knows Vandy, you can ask him/her.

I know the whole “chance” thing is redundant, but false hopes feel good inside ;)

My counselor is not very “aware” of how competitive top tier school can be, in fact, my school has only sent two or three students to upper-echelon schools in the past five or so years… I am hoping to break that trend!

i’m at vandy in the school of engineering (cornelius scholar)

your GPA and course schedule seem solid. your test scores are low but it really depends on what extracurricular/awards stuff you have…you didn’t really give much info on that.

a lot of kids here are valedictorians coming out of high school. just from the info you gave, you have a solid shot. if your ECs/essays are really good, i’d say you would prob get in. if you can, get your scores up. vandy is a test score oriented school.

Yeah that is what I am afraid of…I wish I would have gotten a more solid ACT, but it is in the past and I am focusing on my essays now…would you mind reading my common app essay?
