Chance me for Engineering

Credentials (without activities and recommendations):
3.93 GPA
4.28 GPA(W)
1890 SAT (M 620, R 580, WR 690)

I want to know if I will be accepted for engineering at the following schools:
U Del
Penn State
Rutgers
Rowan University
U Maryland

If you are a junior, take your SATs again. You need to break 2000. Do that and you’ll get into all of the above.

Agree with Sparky, but I’ll be more specific. Get your math and reading to the 650-700 range. They seem to be more important considerations than the writing. Also depends on which Engineering you are choosing to pursue.

I’m not an admissions guy, but I have some knowledge of all schools above based on my work.

The schools above all seem to have similar criteria. Delaware’s bar possibly just a tad lower, and I’m assuming that you are referring only to Penn State’s University Park campus and Rutgers NB.

If I were you, I would also check out Widener as a fallback plan.

One more consideration: I have met very few people in my lifetime (and I’m old) that have actually graduated Rutgers NB in four years. It seems to me that they almost always find a way to get an extra semester or fifth year out of you. Don’t rely just on what I’m saying, check it out with real people.

Spaceman is right. Your writing score is fine. Bring up Math and Reading. A lot of engineering programs don’t even consider the writing score. Also, take the ACT. Some kids do better on that one. It’s more straight forward. The most important thing you can do is get a summer job that relates to your field of study. Being a lifeguard or camp counselor is fun, but it won’t get you a job interview before graduation.

My family owns an engineering company. Experience is everything. My Dad attended one of the most selective schools in the country. He hires based on knowledge, not school.
