30 views not one comment, COME ON GUYS. you all say “oh you’ll get in” to the people with perfect stats. Help someone who doesnt have a sure shot of getting in

Poor chances at UCLA, USC, UCB because of SAT I/Lowish GPA. Other than that, you have a shot at the other UCs.

Good Luck.

Are you a CA resident?
If so, are you ELC eligible?

You seem a good match for mid-tier UCs but not necessarily top-tier UCB and UCLA. Go to the link below, click on “Custom Tables”, answer a few questions, and enter up to 3 “mean characteristics” at a time to see what the admit percentages are for someone that matches your profile:

[University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu/)

i am a CA resident, what is ELC eligible?

Kieran, not sure if you know or not that USC is not in the UC system or did you mean UCSD?

do i need paperwork for elc eligibility

ELC stands for “eligible in the local context” and means you are in the top 9% of your class but your school must be ELC eligible for you to be an ELC eligible candidate. It may be that your school does not qualify. If your school IS an ELC eligible school, you needed to complete the paperwork in your junior year and comply with the requirements. If your school is NOT an ELC eligible school, the UCs will NOT penalize you, but your decile or rank will still be considered for admission purposes if it is available to them.

oh no, i just found a piece of paper that authorizes elc from my school. i never turned it in, its from last year and my mother signed it. what does this mean?? im so scared now…

Go see your guidance counselor ASAP and see if they can do something still. ELC helps you get into more selective UCs and gains you auto admittance to one of the lower tier UCs as long as you meet certain requirements. Even with ELC, I don’t think your chances are real good for UCB and UCLA, but you never know. It will still improve your chances at the top and mid-tiers. Good luck!

if nothing can be done what happens? be hones please im so scared

You should do really well in the admissions process. If you can write a solid second essay I would say you will get into all except Berkeley, LA, Davis and irvine without a doubt. Those four are obviously tough, but you will get into one or two. The scores hurt and your lack of meaningful ecs but overall you are well rounded and your scores aren’t bad they just wot catapult you to the front of the addom’s list.

In general, you have a good chance to get into wherever you want in the UC system, given your income status and that you live in California

^^^^ someone please tell me what is going on…

PLEASE !!! im so scared will i not get admitted to anyone? are my chances lower???

UCB: unlikely
UCLA: Low Reach
UC Davis/Irvine/santa barbara/san diego: Match
Rest of the UCs should accept you.

but i didnt turn in the ELC Paperwork, what does that mean!>!?!?!?!?!

kay nvm, were good, elc is done by UC’s this year…just about had a heart attk

I was wondering what are my chances to get into UCLA. My GPA is solid, right now it is a 3.6. In my senior year I am taking 3 AP classes as well as physics. The three AP classes are calculus, English, and Environmental Science. I am going to be a the person in my family to go to college. I have 5 little brothers and sisters with a single parent. I also do not live in the best community but a low income Hispanic community. My sat and act scores were not that great. It is not because I am not smart it is just that when it comes to those types of test I always seem to not do good. If anyone can give me their honest opinion on my chances of getting into UCLA I would be grateful. I would not get hurt just give me your honest opinion. Thank You.

ELC means next to nothing different than statewide eligibility for most UCs. Don’t worry about it. Worry about not knowing the ins and outs of UC admissions in your senior year; like 9th grade grades don’t count much. Lots of A-Gs do. Calculate your UC GPA and you might get more responses, but “chances” here don’t change anything. Google “UC x freshman admission profiles PDF” for each UC you want the odds fr. Here is UCLA.

UC GPAs below 4.0 means poor, but not impossible odds above UC Davs and above.
