Chance me for Film school!

I'm a junior thinking of applying ED for NYU Tisch, but am also thinking of applying to USC, UMich, UCSB, Barnard (legacy there, to take film at Columbia), Syracuse, and Cornell (high reach I think, but legacy through my grandmother). Chances please? any other suggestions? am I reaching too high?

I also have what I hope is a killer essay, and great recs from my Euro professor (who is also the head of history at UCLA), my film teacher, and english teacher. The film I'm submitting for my portfolio I've been told is great, and won several awards last year at a film festival. What I'm most worried about is my GPA and my mom has managed to implant the idea that i don't have nearly enough extra currics. NYU has always been my dream school and I hope that applying ED helps me get in, but am considering other options as well.

bump? 10char

bump!!!!!!

...anyone?

It's too bad nobody has responded to you. I'd be interested to know because my background is similar. How did you like the RISD program? Also, how did you come about an internship at USC!?

i think barnard and cornell are reaches even with legacy...

however i would highly recommend applying ed to tisch. A friend of mine with slightly lower wgpa, same uwgpa, slightly lower sat score got in ED. The key is the extracurricular. make sure you show off your blog, make and edit some films that appear professional and send them in as part of your portfolio.

USC film school is also very good, so i recommend using the "passion" essay as your chance to elaborate on why film is your passion.

good luck

how about UCSB or UMich? Thanks for the response

just remember that after a certain point, grades really don't matter at Tisch. 50% of the decision is based on the audition/portfolio, so it's hard to really chance you for that particular school.

Thanks for the responses!

I also wonder if I could be considered for Northwestern as well. I'm not a huge fan of the location, but I've heard great things about the Film program there. Do you think my stats are enough to contend?

You seem to have a strong film background, and I honestly have no idea how much arts schools care about GPA.

However, I have a question for you. How did you like the risd summer program? I am considering going there for fashion design, and I know you were in a different specialty, but I would love to know your overall experience.
