Chance me for QB Finalist please. Here are my stats:
GPA: 4.0/4.0
Rank: 16/329 (top 5% of class)
SAT Score: 1400 (according to the QB website, 1320-1450 was the middle range for last year)
SAT IIs: 800 in chemistry, 760 in math II, and 770 in world history
AP Scores: AP Calculus AB (5), AP Chemistry (5), and AP World History (4). These are the only AP courses offered at my school.
I will be taking IB Biology HL, IB History HL, IB English HL, IB Physics SL, IB Italian SL, and Instrumental Music senior year.
Extracurriculars: Science Olympiad, Science Bowl, High School Math Club (Founder/President), Model UN (Treasurer), Chess Club (President), and Badminton Club.
I also do A LOT of tutoring in math and science to students in my school and friends (if that counts for community outreach). Maybe 70-100 hours in total.
I did a 6-week summer program this past summer at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science in Green Energy (on a full-scholarship). The previous summer I did a very short engineering awareness course.
I read a lot of science books if that means anything.
Awards: AP Scholar, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, Principal’s List/Honor Roll, and QuestBridge College Prep Scholar.
I think my essays/short answers will be pretty good once I start working on them. I want to be a chemical engineer and so I have my chemistry teacher writing me a recommendation. I also hope to have my either my IB History teacher or 10th grade Algebra teacher (my calculus teacher didn’t/doesn’t like me).
I am a first-generation Asian-Hispanic male if that means anything. Income is around 60k but my school system is pretty impoverished. I literally did not have a dedicated science teacher until the beginning of high school.
Thank you very much!
