Hello,
I’m currently in my junior year and trying to figure out if I’m on the right track for some of the schools I’d like to apply to and if I have a chance at getting accepted into them.
I’m mainly interested in FSU and UF, but also applying to UCF, FIU, and USF.
(keeping some information vague to avoid identification! will try to be as clear as possible)
Unweighted GPA: 3.9
Weighted GPA: 4.6
Class Rank: top 4%
SAT: 1200 (taking it again for a score in the mid 1300’s. I am confident that I’ll be able to get Bright Futures FAS)
Ap’s: Psychology (10th) US History (11th), English Language and Composition (11th)
Will take English Lit, US Gov, Statistics, and either Biology or Computer Science A for senior year, but I’ll be taking a total of 7 AP’s including senior year.
Weakness: I’m stuck taking pre-calculus honors for my senior year… I followed the standard algebra 1 > geometry > algebra 2 > pre calculus at my school and am not sure if this hurts my application.
Extracurriculars:
- Founded a club at my school in 11th grade, I’m also President of the club
- Junior Advisory Board for a non-profit organization outside of school (11-12)
- Member of mental health awareness club (11), will be Publicity Chair next year
- Member of Environmental Club (11-12)
- Piano (takes up most of my time as I participate in recitals and am very passionate about music) (9th-12th)
Volunteering: 300 hours
- Participated in a summer camp for volunteering (10th)
- Attending Girls Who Code program this summer (11th)
Awards:
- Qualify for Silver Chord (volunteering)
- Writing Competition Superior Award
- Presidential Scholars Award (volunteering)
- Summer Camp Volunteer of the Year Award (volunteering)
*Potential Hooks: First Generation, low income (single parent household), URM (not sure if I count- I’m mixed)
I know I’m a weak applicant, but do I have any shot at the universities mentioned above? I was online schooled for freshman and sophomore year, which is why my real extracurriculars/leadership experiences begin in junior year.
Any help is appreciated.
